Online Academic Programme Manager

Role Summary

SEE is seeking an Online Academic Programme Manager to support the operations team with the transition of their highly regarded Academic Programmes to online delivery. The programmes include lectures and workshops delivered by University professors, industry leaders and researchers who are all at the cutting edge of their fields. During the programme, attendees are required to undertake an assessed research project where they have the opportunity to apply their learning and develop their research skills under the supervision and with the guidance of Research Project Supervisors.

The postholder will need the necessary technical skills to successfully pre-record or live stream each of the academic sessions to international delegates through an online events platform while ensuring all elements of the programme are well organised and the delegates are well taken care of.

Key Responsibilities


  • Liaise with our online platform partners to ensure problems are anticipated and avoided.

  • Coordinate a series of pre-event tests to capture and solve any technical problems.

  • Set-up and use AV equipment to ensure pre-recorded and live streamed programme content is produced to a high quality.

  • Create and maintain a high quality online learning environment using an online events platform.


  • Liaise with high profile speakers from industry, government and leading universities to ensure all sessions are planned and delivered smoothly.

  • Oversee the pre-programme communication schedule to ensure attendees are well prepared.

  • Coordinate with Research Project Supervisors to ensure their needs are met and the project outcomes are met.

User Experience

  • Build rapport with attendees prior to the programme by guiding them through the admissions process and ensuring all pre-programme tasks are completed.

  • Prepare an onboarding and induction plan to ensure attendees are confident and comfortable with the online learning environment and the programme schedule.

  • Encourage debate, questions, and discussion amongst delegates on the online platform during the programme.

  • Respond to any problem users may experience within the platform and with the programme in general.

  • Gather attendee feedback throughout the programme and on completion.


  • Any other tasks as required to support the successful delivery of the online programmes.

Person Specification


  • Educated to degree level or minimum 5 years work experience with demonstrable transferable skills

  • Competent and confident user of Microsoft Office suite

  • Experience producing and delivering online content (recorded and/or live streamed)

  • Experience using a broad range of software applications and streaming platforms

  • Excellent IT skills and an enthusiasm to learn and develop them further

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Unrestricted right to work in the UK


  • Education Management/Events Management/Project Management experience

  • A deep understanding of how to create a positive online User Experience (UX)

  • An understanding of online restrictions in China

  • Knowledge of University of Oxford and/or British higher education

  • Ability to digest and engage with academic content

  • Experience working with high profile individuals

Working Pattern / Arrangements:

  • Initial 6-month contract offered

  • 20 – 30 hours per week (negotiable and flexible)

  • Work to be carried out between 8am – 6pm, Monday – Friday, however some evening or weekend work may be required during the programme

  • Remote working, with some days spent meeting in person (adhering to Covid safe guidelines)

  • Salary: £25,000 pro rata

  • 20 days annual leave (pro rata) + Statutory Bank Holidays
